Our roots

GALENpharma is a family business.

It was founded in 1985 by the physician Dr. med. Otto Paulsen and his son, pharmacist Jan Paul Paulsen. Following the passing of his father Otto Paulsen, Jan Paul Paulsen continued to lead the company. As an independent family business, we are able to act in accordance with our own values and ideals.

Our portfolio comprises a broad range of medications, dosage strengths, and pharmaceutical forms, enabling healthcare professionals to select the most appropriate therapy for each patient’s individual needs.

For testosterone, we offer all currently well-established dosage forms in a variety of strengths.
Effective dermatological therapy depends not only on the active ingredient but also on the formulation base. For this reason, we provide different types of formulations for our topical medications. This includes a wide selection of solutions, lotions, gels, creams and ointments to support individualized patient care.

We also provide a variety of oral medications with different active ingredients and dosage strengths to offer the best treatment for every patient.

Who we are and what makes us special

Since our founding in 1985, we have been growing steadily.

Today our medications are not only of great importance in the fields of dermatology, urology and endocrinology, but also in allergology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, oncology and general practice.

We see ourselves as partners to physicians and pharmacists. Public pharmacies provide essential value by ensuring access to medical care and high quality and personalised healthcare for patients. In addition to our prescription medicines, we also offer over-the-counter medicines, such as allergy treatments (e.g. nasal sprays) and treatments for the skin.

Our priority is not only to provide the best possible care for patients, but also to do so as affordable as possible.

Cortisone – tried and true and reliable

A significant share of our portfolio is built on advanced corticosteroid-based active ingredients. With the broadest range of formulations in Germany, we set the benchmark in this therapeutic field.

We offer a wide range of products from this vital group of active pharmaceutical ingredients, whether for topical use, oral administration or injection purposes.

What are glucocorticoids? They are often simply referred to as “Cortisone”. Cortisone (hydrocortisone) is produced by the cortex of the adrenal glands and performs various essential functions in the body.

Therapeutically applied, it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effects and has proven effective in the treatment of countless medical conditions.

We are working intensively to further expand our range of corticosteroids. Our goal: to offer the right corticosteroid in the optimal formulation and strength for every treatment.
